Scholarship Application Mentorship

CollegeLAH’s mentors are happy to provide advice to students who are applying for scholarships this year. Our mentors will try their very best to provide you with feedback based on their application experiences. In addition, some mentors are happy to provide advice in other areas.

Mentorship Process:

  1. Mentors’ bios are available on the website.
  2. Mentees select preferred mentors and answer contextual questions via the Google form: https://forms.gle/AVRK5y3V4nyPopVJ7
  3. Mentor allocation depends on availability.
  4. Mentors may accept or reject requests; unallocated mentees are assigned other mentors.
  5. CollegeLAH introduces mentors and mentees via email.

Mentee Expectations:

  1. Responsiveness: Please respond to your mentors’ text messages and emails within 24 hours. To ensure smooth communication, add our email contactus.collegelah@gmail.com to your safe senders list.
  2. Politeness: Our mentors generously volunteer their time to assist you without charge. Always maintain a polite and respectful tone when conversing with them.
  3. Early Submission: It is recommended that you complete the form well in advance of your application deadline, ideally more than 2 weeks early. This provides your mentor ample time to review and offer feedback.
  4. Considerate Timing: Respect your mentor’s schedule. If you commit to sending in your application by a certain date, please follow through. Allow time for your mentor to review your work.
  5. Draft Preparation: Do not expect your mentor to write your essay for you. Ensure you have a draft of your content ready. This gives your mentor room to identify strengths and weaknesses.
  6. Follow-Up: If your mentor does not respond for more than 3 days, consider sending a polite follow-up message or contacting us via contactus.collegelah@gmail.com. Sometimes, messages can be missed, and a gentle reminder can be helpful.
  7. Open Communication: Both mentees and mentors are encouraged to reach out to CollegeLAH via contactus.collegelah@gmail.com with inquiries or issues.
